About Tom
My name is Tom Simpkins – welcome to my website!
The purpose of this blog is to provide analysis of the association between brand identity and brand image. This personal interest arose from me constantly scanning my environment to see how brands are perceived and their impact on me. I enjoy decoding brands through analysis and observation.
My perspective comes from a blend of international exposure and home grown roots.
I lived in Munich, Germany for two years and gained an international lens that comes through living as an expatriate. I have lived overseas and worked for international companies and developed relationships with business partners in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden just to name a few. I understand our changing, modern, global neighborhood and that the understanding of individual cultures is required for productive and successful relationships.
As a 6th generation native Nevadan, I also understand the importance of local identities and motivations. People are joined together by culture on many different levels and local culture creates one of the strongest bonds.
This combination of global understanding and local sympathies gives me a unique perspective on brands and their roles in our lives as consumers.
Professionally, I am Director of Sales and Marketing for Branded Products at PanaVise Products, Inc. a major manufacturer of innovative holding solutions in Reno, Nevada.
I am a graduate of the MBA program at the University of Nevada, Reno. My undergraduate studies include a B.S. in Marketing (University of Nevada, Reno) and an A.S. in Business Management (Utah Valley University).
This blog generally revolves around my observations of business brands. Do brand identity and brand image coordinate? In other words, is the brand being perceived as intended?
I appreciate your interest in my website and hope you find something of value as you read my posts. Please feel free to comment on anything that interests you.
Thanks for stopping by.
Sincerely,
Tom Simpkins
